The Belbin team roles are designed to understand and optimize team dynamics and individual contributions within a team. The Belbin model helps teams balance these roles so they can work together more effectively.
The 9 Team Roles of Belbin
Action-oriented roles
Implementer (Processor): Disciplined, reliable, efficient, turns plans into action.
Shaper (Shaper) Dynamic, driven, encourages others, results-oriented.
Completer Finisher (Finisher) Careful, conscientious, attention to detail, works until the job is finished.
Relationship-oriented roles
Resource Investigator (Resource Investigator) Extraverted, enthusiastic, communicative, good at networking.
Teamworker (Teamworker) Cooperative, mild, diplomatic, good at listening, helps resolve conflicts.
Co-ordinator (Chair) Mature, confident, good at identifying talents, can delegate.
Content-oriented roles
Plant (Ideas) Creative, imaginative, problem-solving, thoughtful.
Monitor Evaluator (Monitor) Sober, strategic, good at assessing options, objective.
Specialist (Specialist) Dedicated, self-starting, provides specialized knowledge and skills.
Use of Insights
The Insights Model is a training tool based on four color types (Blue, Green, Yellow, Red), which reflect different personality and behavioral styles. It helps individuals and teams gain insight into communication, collaboration and personal development.
Teamdiscovery is a training program where you learn by doing. The activities demonstrate how you and your colleagues are used to working together. With our facilitators you will analyze and evaluate your way of working together and identify areas for improvement. You can immediately put these into practice during the following assignments. All assignments are short and powerful. To succeed, everyone must roll up their sleeves. One for all and all for one!
